CREW Northern Nevada is excited to share the inside history of getting this project built as well as introduce you to the Director of Hockey and the Director of Figure Skating who will be updating us on the exciting programming they have planned at the new rink.

SPEAKERS: 
Joel Grace, President Reno Ice
Chief Operating Officer, Reno Land, Inc.
Joel is the Chief Operating Officer at Reno Land, Inc. Prior to which, Joel worked with Umpqua Bank and the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada (EDAWN). Born and raised in New England, Joel graduated from New Hampshire College and holds an MBA from the University of Southern New Hampshire. Joel moved to northern Nevada in 2002, and loves living here. He has extensive volunteer experience with the YMCA of the Sierra, the Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation and the Junior Achievement Association. Joel has three sons who will be playing on Reno Ice Hockey teams. Joel and his wife Amy have four children, McKenna, Ayden, Luke, and Quinn.

Mike Harder, Hockey Director
Mike Harder comes to the Reno Ice after coaching for six years at his alma mater Division I Colgate University where he had been an all-American and Hobey Baker finalist. After earning his degree in International Relations, Mike played 13 seasons professionally. Included were stops in the American Hockey League along with European League ventures in Germany, Austria, Finland, Sweden and Italy. He helped Hartford claim the AHL Calder Cup Championship in 2000 and was a key figure in winning the 2004 German Elite League Championship. While playing in the AHL, Mike founded IPH Hockey, a skills-based development program in Connecticut that has trained over 1200 youth and collegiate players. IPH is committed to fostering a passion for hockey in players of all ages. A native of St. Adolphe, Manitoba, Mike is thrilled to be helping grow the game of hockey in northern Nevada.
 
Joanie Malarchuk, Figure Skating Director
Joan Malarchuk has coached for 37 years in Figure and Power Skating since passing her Gold Tests in Figures and Freestyle.She has coached all levels of Freestyle including taking skaters to Nationals and Collegiate Championships. In addition, she’s worked with numerous professional and junior hockey players in power skating. Her credentials include a Master Freestyle Rating with the PSA (Professional Skaters Association), a member of United States Figure Skating, Professional Skaters Association, and The Ice Sports Industry. She maintains her certification with up to date CERs (continuing education requirements). Joanie’s devotion to skating with her intense Figures background and Moves in the Field experience have helped her instill strong skating techniques in both hockey and figure skaters improving their abilities, accomplishments and love of the sport.
