In October, the IRS developed a new set of rules concerning these zones, speaker Cory Hunt will be discussing the impact of the new rules and provide timely and important takeaways for Opportunity Zones in our region.

    About the speaker: Cory Hunt 

    Director, Research & Analysis | Applied Analysis

    Cory Hunt is a director of research and analysis with Applied Analysis and leads the northern Nevada office. His areas of expertise include economic development, market analysis and public policy analysis.

    Cory attended the University of Nevada, Reno, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in geography and political science. He also earned a Master of Public Administration at the University of Southern California's prestigious Sol Price School of Public Policy, where he received the Dean's Certificate of Merit for excellence in academics.

    Cory previously served for three years as deputy director of the Nevada Governor's Office of Economic Development and four years as senior policy analyst for Governor Brian Sandoval. Prior to serving the Governor, Cory worked as a management consultant, developing performance evaluation systems and ecosystem service markets for public, non-profit and private clients.

    In addition to his economic development work, Cory was the architect of Nevada's leading legislation on autonomous vehicles signed into law in 2017. He is consulted regularly on policy related to self-driving vehicles, unmanned aerial systems and smart-cities.

    Cory received his Bachelor of Arts in Geography and Political Science from the University of Nevada, Reno in 2008. He earned his Master of Public Administration from the 
    University of Southern California, Price School of Public Policy in 2015.

    He serves on the Board of Directors of the USC Northern Nevada & Tahoe Alumni Association and the Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows Young Leaders Committee.
